Spring/Summer 2021 Connections Magazine Letter from Leadership
The unprecedented events of 2020 kept us from publishing Connections magazine last year, so we are glad that you are taking the time to learn about what is on the horizon for health care in our region.
It is difficult to describe what the past year brought upon the health care system. The global pandemic challenged us in ways that were difficult to imagine. But what didn’t surprise us is how the Gritman Family—and the health care community around the world—rose to meet the moment.
From team members in every department, we witnessed unprecedented courage, perseverance, sacrifice and compassion to care for our patients and the communities we serve. Through all the testing, vaccinations, layers of PPE and endless hours of dedicated hard work, we saw how everyone at Gritman adapted to an ever-changing and uncertain environment and we are forever grateful for their continued service in support of our nonprofit mission.
COVID-19 isn’t entirely in the rear view mirror, but we are beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Through generations, health care workers have learned how to handle new infectious diseases like hepatitis, tuberculosis, HIV and Ebola—and we are growing in our understanding of how to manage COVID-19. We are also thankful for you—the members of our greater community. We are grateful for your understanding and patience as we work to keep the hospital and clinics safely open to provide exceptional care to you and your loved ones.
As we look to the future, we are excited to share several important advances in care that are coming to Gritman in 2021. We are starting dedicated surgical practices that will be fully integrated into the Gritman system. With general surgeons and other specialties joining the Gritman team, we will continue to improve access to care so more patients can stay closer to home for treatment, healing and recovery.
As your regional hospital and clinic system, we are committed to providing you with extraordinary care and improving the lives of all people. That’s our mission, a charge we’ve strived toward over 124 years. We hope you enjoy learning more about what’s in store and how our dedicated team is impacting the lives of our patients every day.
