Dr. Pennington received an undergraduate degree from Brigham Young University in 1988 and a medical degree from Oregon Health Sciences University in 1992. He completed an orthopaedic surgery internship at the University of Tennessee in 1993 and an orthpaedic surgery residency at the Campbell Foundation - University of Tennessee in 1997. He was certified in orthopaedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopadic Surgery in 1999 and sports medicine in 2009. He has been practicing in Moscow and Pullman with Inland Orthopaedic Surgery & Sports Medicine Clinic since 1997.

Dr. Pennington and his wife have five children and a growing brood of grandchildren. He has been the University of Idaho’s team doctor since 2000. In addition to his work as a physician, he is active in his church and has provided service to countless individuals on the Palouse in church leadership capacities for many years. He is an avid aviator and golfer, spending as much free time as possible in the air or on the links. He also enjoys spending time outdoors at the lake with his family and tending to his colony of honey bees.
