Heartcode BLS Online from the American Heart Association (AHA) provides a flexible alternative to classroom training. Through case-based scenarios, interactive activities and videos, this course teaches the concepts of both single-rescuer and team basic life support. This course is designed for healthcare professionals and students who need to know how to perform CPR, as well as other lifesaving skills, in a wide variety of in-hospital and out-of-hospital settings.
Once enrolled in Heartcode BLS through Gritman’s HealthStream Learning Center, students can access the self-paced course anytime from any computer. Once a student has finished the online HealthStream portion of the course which may take two hours, they must schedule a time with Gritman’s Education Department to complete a hands on skills check off on voice assisted computerized manikins. Skills check off for BLS takes about 30 minutes. Check offs are scheduled individually during normal business hours.
