Family Medicine/OB Provider Dr. Robin Sautter Joining Comprehensive Primary Care Team at Gritman | Moscow Family Medicine Downtown Clinic
Gritman might be the ideal place to practice for Dr. Robin Sautter.
The Minnesota transplant and Family Medicine/OB provider has always been passionate about medicine, as well as the pull of more rural and tight-knit communities that can be found on the Palouse.
The daughter of two veterinarians, medicine was part of Dr. Sautter’s upbringing—going on calls to help deliver cows via Cesarean section or helping treat small animals at the family’s clinic.
“I knew I loved medicine,” she said. “I just spent more time shadowing at hospitals. I think it’s incredible to build relationships with a community. That’s what I saw with my parents and that’s what I’m doing with the human side.”
Sautter begins that practice as the newest Family Practice/OB provider at Gritman | Moscow Family Medicine Downtown. She joins Drs. Amy Dudley, Meghan Kusko and Bryn Parker in expanding access to women’s health care in the region—all have completed the same fellowship in OB care through Tacoma Family Medicine.
“I knew I would have really awesome support and a great group of physicians to work with,” she said of her fellow providers.
Working with patients over years and generations, and building the rapport with them through repeated care—all while hearing about their lives—is a driver for why Dr. Sautter went into Family Medicine. She enjoys being a part of the celebrations that come with assisting during the process of pregnancy and delivering babies, but she also wants to be there for patients as they go through the bumps that come along in life.
“I just feel we can’t do it alone,” she said. “If I can be a part of helping someone along the way to reaching their own level of happy along the way, I would love to be able to do that.”
In addition to primary care, Sautter treats all aspects of women’s health and is experienced in transgender medicine and care for refugees and underserved populations. For Dr. Sautter, the many areas of treatment are all part of being a family physician.
“We can all be healthy enough on our own, but sometimes having someone guide you in making the healthier choice is key to making you as healthy as you possibly can.”
In addition to her partners in medicine at the Downtown Clinic, Sautter is married to another new physician, Dr. Christopher Bullard, who recently began treating patients through Gritman Internal Medicine.
“We grew up in places with really supportive communities,” she said “That’s why we came back to a smaller town. Hopefully people will see us on the street and won’t be afraid to say ‘Hello.’ We’re really excited about being here.”
