The Gritman Foundation is honored to recognize Roy Goetschel and Jane Peterson Goetschel as founding members of the Dr. Charles and Bertie Gritman Legacy Society. Membership in the Gritman Legacy Society is granted to those who have made planned gift commitments to Gritman Medical Center in support of the future health care needs of our community.
Roy Goetschel, University of Idaho professor emeritus, and Jane Peterson Goetschel, retired educator, named the Foundation as the beneficiary of their estate because of the exceptional healthcare their family members received at Gritman Medical Center.
Reflecting on the family’s experience, Jane recalls, “When Roy and I reviewed our long-term plans, we realized that by making this Legacy Gift, we would continue the values of giving, volunteerism and public service handed down to us by our parents and grandparents.”
As a new faculty wife, Jane signed on as a volunteer with Gritman in 1971. She has held many offices on several volunteer boards and committees and currently serves as Gritman Foundation Secretary. She is a member on committees that oversee Hospice, the Light-A-Candle Community, Strategic Planning, and the Auxiliary. Jane has also been a General Member for over 30 years.
In support of other giving, Jane remarks, “I encourage others to include Gritman in their legacy planning. Your gift, like ours, will be well-received and make a lasting difference.”
