Hematology analyzer purchased thanks to generosity of community

Gritman Foundation and Auxiliary donors, events make advanced technology possible

Thanks to the generosity of our community, including gifts received at the Gritman Foundation’s Pink Tea and Pink Cocktail events in October and the Gritman Auxiliary’s Holiday Delights in December, we are proud to announce we met our funding goal of $120,000 for the purchase of a state-of-the-art hematology analyzer for our laboratory department to help us provide exceptional care for the community and cancer patients throughout the region.

Hematology studies are essential in treating cancer and maintaining patient health and quality of life during treatment, and our new analyzer will provide quick and accurate information to our oncologists to help them tailor care for cancer patients.

Our laboratory department operates 24/7, 365 days a year, and performs more than 140,000 tests every year. The new analyzer, which is capable of processing 200 samples per hour, gives them another tool to help provide the best care for many different types of diseases and conditions.

“This new hematology analyzer will give us the most advanced technology on the Palouse to better care for our patients,” Gritman Laboratory Director Greg Nordin said.

Pink Tea and Pink Cocktail is the Foundation’s signature fundraiser and supports Gritman Medical Center in providing cancer care support services and technology to the region. Since 2003 the events have raised more than $1 million to support cancer care services at Gritman.

“The Gritman Pink Tea and Pink Cocktail is one of the most meaningful moments in the year for Gritman and the cancer patients we serve,” Gritman CEO and President Kara Besst said. “It is our honor to help support all of our patients throughout their journeys, and we are grateful for the support of so many in our community who make it possible.”

We look forward to seeing you at this year’s Pink Tea and Pink Cocktail. Save the date: Oct. 20, 2020.
