Hoops for Hope to benefit local cancer patients

MOSCOW — Support local cancer patients by attending Hoops for Hopes as the University of Idaho Women’s basketball team takes on the University of Montana at 6 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 7, in the Cowan Spectrum.

Hoops for Hope benefits the Gritman Foundation Light a Candle program, providing funds for services to cancer patients in Latah, Whitman, Nez Perce and Asotin Counties.

As a collaboration between the University of Idaho and the Gritman Foundation, cancer survivors get in free. Activities include a silent auction and a half-time presentation about the Janie Nirk Challenge. The Gritman Foundation will also be selling the “No One Fights Alone” game day T-shirts to raise funds for the Light a Candle program.

The Gritman Foundation Light a Candle program helps cancer patients improve their quality of life and ease some of the pressure that comes with facing cancer. Available services include housekeeping, gas cards, grocery assistance, massage and others as requested. For more information about Light a Candle email lightacandle@gritman.org.
