Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Hospital Price Transparency Initiative

Gritman Medical Center is committed to supporting the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) effort to build transparency and awareness of hospital pricing and quality. CMS is requiring all hospitals make their pricing list public effective Jan. 1, 2019.

The pricing list includes:

  • A description of the service, supply or drug
  • The price of that service, supply or drug

It is important to understand the listed price is rarely what is paid by the patient. In fact, most patients will pay less. This is for many reasons including:

  • If the patient is self-pay, insured or uninsured
  • What contractual adjustments are made by the patient’s specific insurance provider
  • And other factors

To help you better understand how prices are commonly adjusted, we have included a pricing example.

For many reasons, it is very difficult to compare prices between hospitals using these pricing lists. The most accurate way to understand your estimated costs is to contact the Gritman patient financial services team. Our financial counselors can help you understand our pricing and estimated costs so you have the right information to make the best health care decision. The pricing list is a machine-readable (csv) file.
