Our hospital and all clinics are open and ready to care for patients. However, we are screening and restricting access to the hospital. Learn more about our patient and visitor guidelines and COVID-19 resources.

The Family Birth Center, a tradition of providing advanced, tender-loving care

We are all facing a great deal of uncertainty in our lives, but one thing that will never change is our Family Birth Center’s commitment to providing you with exceptional care before, during and after delivery.

“We always want patients to feel comfortable and welcome when they come in. We want mothers and their loved ones to know they are safe while they are here with us, and we are here for them and their growing family.”
– Jenn Jones, FBC director

As part of that commitment and to ensure the safety of all of our patients during the COVID-19 pandemic, we have made several changes to our policies and procedures, but we are still providing the same amazing care for mothers and their newborns.

“We always want patients to feel comfortable and welcome when they come in,” FBC Director Jenn Jones said. “We want mothers and their loved ones to know they are safe while they are here with us, and we are here for them and their growing family.”

To help keep new families safe and healthy and to reduce the potential of our patients and staff being exposed to COVID-19, we require everyone who enters our facilities to wear a facemask. In our FBC, we are testing patients with scheduled inductions and C-sections for COVID-19 before their procedures.

We have also made changes to our FBC visitor policy, including limiting mothers to two visitors and not allowing children as visitors.

See all of our new arrivals anytime on our Birth Announcements page, or follow us on Instagram to see our Babies of the Week posts!

“I wish we could allow more visitors in to welcome their new family member to the world, but with our priority focus on patient safety, it is just not feasible at this time,” Jones said, adding families are welcome to connect virtually or have introductions through the exterior windows.

We have suspended scheduled tours of the FBC, but expecting mothers can still take a virtual tour of our facility, and we are always available to answer any of your questions. Call 208-883-2229 to visit with one of our amazing nurses. We also have a comprehensive video tour of the Gritman Family Birth Center to give you a look at our facility and the amazing team that is dedicated to your care.

We have numerous resources for expecting mothers, including in our Online Clinic, which features trusted information from leading experts, our Prenatal Care and Appointments resource page and our Postpartum Care Resource Center, designed to help ensure mother and baby are safe and healthy at home. Our Childbirth Education courses and Breastfeeding classes are being offered virtually and safely in person. Learn more about our classes.

“We love what we do, and we love our patients,” Jones said. “We appreciate that they allow us to take care of them and that they trust us with their families. Their babies are super precious, and we are honored and privileged to be able to provide care for them. We are doing it the safest way we can to keep everyone as safe as possible.”
